MP Solar Systems http://www.mpsolar.ie/news/rss/ info@mpsolar.ie MP Solar Systems Thu, 23 Feb 2012 07:11:24 +0000 <![CDATA[Solar Energy for Dairy Farms]]> http://www.mpsolar.ie/news/view/id/36 http://www.mpsolar.ie/news/view/id/36 Most dairy farms are set up for one line wash per day and the bulk tank is washed every second day. The volumes vary from farm to farm, but in general are the very same every week so the sizing of the system can be done very accurately. The sizing of system required is based on the amount of units and the size of the bulk tank. The supplier of the milking equipment will tell you how much hot water is needed for the line wash and bulk tank however we can also work this out on viewing.

The solar system will provide nearly all the hot water required from March to October, which is nearly in line with most spring calving herds.

Here are the guide prices for systems, which include stainless steel tanks, all solar pipe work, aluminium specially designed frames to suit different roof angles and fully installed. All the electrical work is completed in compliance with dairy standards.

System Cost exVAT 13.5% Expected Payback Lifespan

50 tubes 400 litre tank €6200 9 years 25-30

60 tubes 400 litre tank €6700 9 years 25-30

70 tubes 500 litre tank €8800 9-10 years 25-30

80 tubes 2x300 litre tanks €9300 9-10 years 25-30

90 tubes 2x400 litre tanks €10200 9-10 years 25-30

100 tubes 2x400 litre tanks €10750 8-9 years 25-30

110 tubes 2x500 litre tanks €11375 8-9 years 25-30

120 tubes 2x500 litre tanks €11900 7-8 years 25-30

Ideally your sheds should be facing south, however the tubes can be tilted 15 degrees either way to gain more from any given direction.

We are an Irish company using only the most efficient tubes and highest quality materials. The job will take approx 1.5 days to complete.

<![CDATA[The Benefits of Installing Solar Panels]]> http://www.mpsolar.ie/news/view/id/35 http://www.mpsolar.ie/news/view/id/35 No matter where you live or where your business is located, solar panels can be installed by professionals. You can convert any type of home or business into one that uses solar energy in order to create hot water. Even if you don’t collect enough sunlight for all of your hot water needs, you can collect enough of it to significantly reduce what you do use.

There are many benefits of installing solar water heating systems:

  1. Reduce your impact on the environment. Solar power has a carbon footprint of exactly zero so this is a prime solar power benefit and one of the main advantages of solar power. By installing solar water heating panels, you will demonstrate your commitment to protecting the climate, by sustainably lowering CO2 emissions.
  2. Save money on your bills. In addition to helping the environment when you install solar panels, you'll be saving money on your hot water bills.
  3. Reconnect your house to the world around it.
  4. Harvest the suns abundant energy.
  5. Make a better return on your money then leaving it in the bank.
  6. Do your bit to make the world a healthier place.

If you want to enjoy the solar power benefits that will help both you and the planet get started today with MP Solar Systems.

<![CDATA[Solar Water Heating Systems. Carbon Footprint.]]> http://www.mpsolar.ie/news/view/id/34 http://www.mpsolar.ie/news/view/id/34 A carbon footprint has historically been defined as "the total set of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions caused by an organization, event, product or person." However, calculating a carbon footprint which conforms to this definition is often impracticable due to the large amount of data required, which is often costly and time consuming to obtain. A more practicable definition has been suggested, which is gaining acceptance within the field:

"A measure of the total amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) emissions of a defined population, system or activity, considering all relevant sources, sinks and storage within the spatial and temporal boundary of the population, system or activity of interest. Calculated as carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) using the relevant 100-year global warming potential (GWP100)."

Greenhouse gases can be emitted through transport, land clearance, and the production and consumption of food, fuels, manufactured goods, materials, wood, roads, buildings, and services. For simplicity of reporting, it is often expressed in terms of the amount of carbon dioxide, or its equivalent of other GHGs, emitted.

The concept name of the carbon footprint originates from ecological footprint discussion. The carbon footprint is a subset of the ecological footprint and of the more comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).

An individual's, nations, or organi measured by undertaking a GHG emissions assessment. Once the size of a carbon footprint is known, a strategy can be devised to reduce it, e.g. by technological developments, better process and product management, changed Green Public or Private Procurement (GPP), carbon capture, consumption strategies, and others.

The mitigation of carbon footprints through the development of alternative projects, such as SOLAR ENERGY, wind energy or reforestation, represents one way of reducing a carbon footprint and is often known as Carbon offsetting.

The main influences on carbon footprints include population, economic output, and energy and carbon intensity of the economy. These factors are the main targets of individuals and businesses in order to decrease carbon footprints. Scholars suggest the most effective way to decrease a carbon footprint is to either decrease the amount of energy needed for production or to decrease the dependence on carbon emitting fuels.

<![CDATA[Why solar water heating?]]> http://www.mpsolar.ie/news/view/id/33 http://www.mpsolar.ie/news/view/id/33 From 2001 to 2010, the cost of electricity in Ireland increased by almost 50%. A high dependency on imported gas and oil means that Ireland's electrical prices are the highest in Europe. Without an improvement in the efficiency of standard electric water heaters to compensate for increasing fuel costs, Irish householders are feeling the full extent of of the scarcity of worldwide fuel supply.

MP Solar offers solar energy solutions for Domestic, Commercial, Public Sectors and Sport Clubs.

By installing a solar water heating system you will:

  • SAVE MONEY! With a solar system you could generate enough solar energy to heat 70% of your hot water requirements in an average 3-4 bedroom house for FREE. You can expect a payback in as little as 6-8 years. With a solar hot water system save on your energy bill year after year.
  • HELP THE ENVIRONMENT! Heating your hot water is a major contributor to carbon emissions. Carbon pollution is causing global warming. By installing solar panels, you will demonstrate your commitment to protecting the climate, by sustainably lowering CO2 emissions.
